- Finally: a summary of the progress of Divi 5
1 – Customizable Responsive Breakpoints | Public Alpha 7.2 | February 6, 2025
With this new update, Divi 5 finally allows you to customize your break points! Finish the three frozen sizes: you can now adjust the thresholds according to your needs and activate only those you use.
Divi now offers a total of 7 breakpoints, including four new ones (Phone Wide, Tablet Wide, Widescreen, Ultra Widescreen).
Each breakpoint is fully editable, and the changes you make automatically apply to the relevant screen size.
A simple but powerful novelty, which gives you complete control over the responsive design !
🍒 And icing on the cake, just make your changes on the chosen screen size and the options are saved directly for this size without impacting others.
2 – Preset-Based Design | Public Alpha 9.3 | March 11, 2025
Presets allow you to create sets of reusable styles (typos, colors, borders, spacing, etc.) that you can apply to any element.
When a Preset is changed, all instances that use it automatically update, which ensures perfect consistency across the entire site.
You can also stack multiple presets on the same item, and even redefine the default presets to fit the overall appearance of your modules.
Presets existed in Divi 4 but arrived in Divi 5 with greater accuracy.
3 – Advanced CSS Units | Public Alpha 10.1 | March 19, 2025
Divi 5 now supports all CSS units (px, rem, vw, etc.), as well as functions like calc() and clamp(). You can type or drag to adjust the values, while enjoying the freedom of composition.
You can also use CSS variables: set them globally or at page level, and then refer to these variables in your styles. A change to the source occurs wherever the variable is used.
This innovation makes the creation of fluid typographies and adaptive designs much simpler and more powerful.
4 - Global Variables Manager | Public Alpha 11.1 | April 3, 2025
The global variable manager allows you to define reusable values (colours, typographies, numbers, images, text, URLs) in a central manager.
You can then inject these variables into the elements and presets options. If you change a variable, all parts of the site that use it automatically update, ensuring instant consistency across the entire site.
This is a major step forward in fluidizing your workflow and centralizing the mastery of design without resetting the same settings for each module.
5 – Nested Rows | Public Alpha 12.1 | April 17, 2025
Finally, it is possible to interlock lines in other lines, without any depth limit, opening the door to much more complex layout structures.
When you add a line inside a column, you can insert modules or continue to interlock lines.
At the same time, the options for dimensioning columns have been expanded: you now precisely control the width and height of each column in your nested arrangements.
6 – Module Groups | Public Alpha 13.1 | May 1, 2025
A new module is born, it is a container: groups of modules.
You can now group several modules inside a column to manipulate, stylize or duplicate them as a single element.
These groups support presets and can be recorded as global elements, ensuring consistency and time saving.
You can interlock groups into each other – or into lines – without limits, which opens up very scalable structural possibilities.
7 – Attribute Management | Public Alpha 14.1 | May 16, 2025
With Divi 5, Attribute Management becomes much more powerful and accurate, you can:
- Copy attributes at the module level, a group of options, a tab or a field, with all the desired granularity.
- Selectively paste: you can choose to paste all attributes, or only styles, content or presets.
- Reset attributes in a targeted way: all reset to zero, or only style, content or presets according to your needs.
- These options are accessible via a context menu (right click), including at the option group level, for quick and precise action.
- In addition, new keyboard shortcuts will speed up these operations.
This fine management gives you total control over your elements, while avoiding tedious feedback to code to synchronize styles between modules.
8 - Settings Search and Filtering | Public Alpha 15.1 | May 29, 2025
Divi 5 now includes a search bar in the settings panel, allowing you to instantly find an option per keyword, without searching the tabs.
You also have useful filters: by type of setting (colors, sizes...) or by state, in particular « modified », which allows you to identify the options you have changed on a module.
This greatly increases your speed of work with Divi, especially on modules with many settings.
9 - Extend Attributes | Public Alpha 16 | June 5, 2025
Divi 5 recreates the concept of « extend styles », known in Divi 4, but extensively enriched. You can now propagate one or more attributes — styles, presets, or content — d
The menu « Extend Attributes » (accessible by right click) allows you to choose the source, the destination (column, line, section, entire page) and the type of attribute to extend. You can extend individual styles, groups of options or presets, with a very fine selection of fields to propagate.
In addition, the panel « Extend Attributes » automatically adapts to the context of the active element, and you can attach it to keep it within range.
For a while, I confess I was afraid 😰 that Divi 5 does not incorporate this feature that was indispensable in Divi 4 for creating more productive sites.
10 – Search and Replace | Public Alpha 17 | June 18, 2025
A function « Find and Replace » accessible by right click on any field arrives in Divi 5. You can search for a value in an item (e.g. color, font, number) and then replace it anywhere, depending on a scope you define (in the item, its children, the entire page, etc.).
This feature is particularly useful for converting static values into variables (colors, fonts...), or for quickly adjusting a shade or style in an imported layout without having to search every option.
You also control which options are replaced (element types, identical fields only), to avoid undesirable side effects.
11 - Relative Colors & HSL | Public Alpha 17.1 |19 June 2025
Finally, it is possible to use relative colors based on HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness): your colors can be defined as variables and mathematically adjusted to each other.
For example, you can declare your color « Primary » then create declinations (teeth, saturation, modified brightness) that will remain related to this mother color. If you change the primary color, all the variations will automatically update.
The color selector has been redesigned: it displays variables, allows to compose relative colors and incorporates a clearer HSL interface (tein, saturation, brightness and opacity).
12 – Interactions | Public Alpha 18.1 | 26 June 2025
Divi 5 now offers an integrated interaction system, which creates dynamic effects such as pop-ups, toggles or animations related to scroll or mouse movement.
You choose a trigger (click, browse, scroll, input into the viewport, etc.), an effect (show/masking, change a preset, change an attribute, etc.) and a target (the element that undergoes the action).
The interaction editor is accessible from the advanced tab of each module, and the effects include options such as Toggle Visibility, Toggle Preset, Mirror Mouse Movement, Scroll To Element, cookie management and attributes, etc.
Some examples of use:
- create a pop-up that appears when a section enters the viewport,
- switch between two versions of module on click (toggle),
- apply a preset variation to the scroll,
- make an element « mouse follower » with tilt or opacity effects.
13 – Flexbox | Public Alpha 18.2 | 10 July 2025
It's a revolution we were all waiting for! Divi 5 finally integrates the Flexbox 🎉
You can now build complex arrangements by interlocking lines, controlling the layout of child elements (direction, line transition, order) and adjusting vertical or horizontal alignments – all without having to code (this was the case with Divi 4 as explained in this article).
For each breakpoint, you can define a different structure: changing the width of the columns, changing the order of the elements, or redefining the direction of flow according to the device.
With the arrival of the Flexbox, Divi abandons certain specialized sections (fullwidth violet and specialty orange) in favour of a unified system: everything goes through flex lines, which simplifies the overall structure.
14 – Loop Builder | Public Alpha 19.1 | 25 July 2025
We weren't waiting for him and yet he's here! The Loop Builder allows you to create dynamic loops for any type of content – articles, pages, products, authors, categories, etc.
First you set a template with your modules/designs, then you configure the query (post type, filters, meta, order) to power the loop.
The Loop Builder is compatible with custom fields (ACF), custom post types (such as Divi Projects), and even repeater fields.
By changing your request or model, all instances in the loop automatically update.
🤩 You can finally build custom content pages without a module « blog » imposed, with complete freedom on design and structure.
15 - New modules: Carousel groups, Lottie and list of icons | Public Alpha 20.1 | 8 August 2025
Divi 5 enriches its range of modules with three valuable additions:
- A very flexible Group Carousel module: each « slide » is a blank canvas in which you can insert any module, nest lines, apply effects, etc. The carousel can also be powered dynamically via the Loop Builder (articles, categories, etc.).
- A Lottie module for easy integration of JSON/SVG animations. You control speed, trigger, repeat, etc. No more implementation of Lottie with ninja tricks!
- An Icon List module (list with icons), to create lists with custom icons, without using raw text or tricks.
These modules take advantage of the new architecture of Divi 5 and show the theme's ability to move rapidly towards more modularity.
16 – WooCommerce Modules | Public Alpha 21 | (15 August 2025)
With this update, Divi 5 offers a first series of 17 native WooCommerce modules, without label « legacy ». These modules cover the essentials to design your product pages and categories with total freedom.
For example:
- the Products module to display a product grid.
- Product Page Modules : Add To Cart, Product Gallery, Product Title, Product Description, etc.
- utility modules like Breadcrumbs, Notice, Product Meta, Reviews, Upsells...
With the Loop Builder you can also create custom loops on your products (requests, styles) instead of just the module « Products » Standard.
The remaining modules for the basket and command validation will arrive in a second time.
17 – Responsive Editor | Public Alpha 22 | 27 August 2025
Divi 5 introduces a centralized reactive editor that facilitates the management of responsive states, « hover » and « ticky » from a single interface.
Instead of having to switch to mobile or tablet mode to change the values, you can click on the responsive editor icon and adjust the values on all modes simultaneously.
If an option has different values for different modes (desktop, tablet, mobile), the icon becomes blue to report this change, and you can view, edit or reset these values quickly.
Reactive editor improves the speed of your workflow and reduces unnecessary clicks while maintaining the power of responsive design.
18 - Custom attributes | Public Alpha 23 | 11 September 2025
A new Attributes panel appears in the Advanced tab of each item, giving you the possibility to add any HTML attribute (alt, title, rel, aria-label, data-*, etc.) to both the main element and its sub-elements.
This significantly enhances accessibility (you can associate ARIA roles, labels or attributes with non-semantic modules) and allows for finer customization of content behavior or indexing.
The old fields for the CSS or the ID classes are gradually deprecated: their values are automatically migrated to this new unified system of custom attributes.
In short, you finally gain the freedom to add all the necessary attributes to your elements without using code, while maintaining class settings and identifiers in the same environment.
19 – CSS Grid | Public Alpha 23.2 | 19 September 2025
Like the arrival of the Flexbox, the arrival of CSS Grid is a major step forward in creating sophisticated layouts.
CSS Grid has a slightly harder behavior to understand than the Flexbox for neophytes and this is why the editor offers predefined grid templates that you can apply in one click. The s的y elements automatically adapt as you add content.
For informed users, all CSS Grid options are accessible: you can set your own columns, rows, spacing, alignment, direction, etc.
In summary: CSS Grid offers structural flexibility « high level », while remaining accessible to beginners thanks to the models.
20 – WooCommerce Basket and Payment Modules | Public Alpha 24 | 26 September 2025
It was the missing part of WooCommerce modules that the « e-commercial in love with Divi » Wait!
Now you can build your shopping cart and checkout pages via the Theme Builder, by assembling the module components by module.
Among the modules available:
- For the cart: Woo Cart Products, Woo Cart Totals, Woo Cross-Sells
- For the payment page: Woo Checkout Billing, Woo Checkout Shipping, Woo Checkout Details, Woo Checkout Payment, etc.
When you activate Divi on a shopping cart or payment page, Divi automatically replaces classic WooCommerce templates with these modules, giving you total control over style and structure.
21 - Inspector | Public Alpha 24.1 | 3 October 2025
The Inspector tool, inspired by Figma, centralizes the attributes of an element (and its children) in a dedicated panel. You can inspect colors, typographies, sizes, contents and presets, and change everything from this panel.
Here is what it allows:
- Group the modified attributes (colors, fonts, etc.) of an element and its descendants, rather than scatter them into tabs.
- Edit in bulk: Change a color in one place and update it wherever it is used.
- Access texts, media, attributes or presets active in the inspected item.
- Revise the attributes used inside the presets, allowing you to modify them directly from there.
It's a major time saving to spot and edit what's behind a layout without jumping between multiple tabs. I even felt that it replaces the small brush-shaped icon that was so useful in Divi 4.
Finally: a summary of the progress of Divi 5
Wow! That makes it new! And all in less than a year!
As a general rule, the Elegantthemes team publishes 2 features each month, not counting corrections and improvements...
But you will notice that some months have been more prolific than others with up to 4 features released in June, just that!
Anyway, I feel like « It was worth waiting for. » Hey! And is that your feeling too?
